More than 100 International Exhibitors Have Signed up for Long Beach, Calif. Exhibition

Norwalk, CT/July 7, 2008 – Flying in the 21st Century, focusing on the growing intersection between consumer and industry demand for more efficient airline travel and greater cabin comfort, will be the theme of the first U.S. Aircraft Interiors Expo-Americas (AIX Americas), planned for Sept. 9,10,11 in Long Beach, Calif.

This innovative exhibition, focusing on new approaches to winning over the 21st Century passenger, is produced by Reed Exhibitions, the largest global producer of trade shows and events.  More than 100 airline interiors suppliers/organizations are currently participating in the event, according to Group Exhibition Director and Reed spokesperson, James Reader.

“The focus of this inaugural US exhibition and conference will be three intensive days of discussion and debate on Flying in the 21st Century,” Reader said.  “Speakers and panelists from airlines and the interiors industry will address critical issues facing airlines today, including how to maximize revenue in a climate of rising fuel costs and gaining competitive advantage through the cabin interior.  As such there will be a lot of focus on smart technology, cabin  differentiationand passenger empowerment.”

Reader added, “While the roster of high-level speakers and panelists is still being assembled, it already includes key executives from today’s most progressive airlines and leading aviation experts including: Charles Ogilvie, director of Inflight Entertainment & Partnerships at Virgin America; Brett Muney, general manager product development at JetBlue Airways; Bob Lange, head of aircraft interiors marketing for Airbus; Klaus Brauer, passenger satisfaction and revenue director for Boeing Commercial Airplanes; Mike Bergman, product manager for aircraft interiors at Northwest Airlines, Angela Vargo, product development manager for Southwest Airlines; Chase Craig, product development and market research for Alaska Airlines; James Park, Founder and Managing Director, James Park Associates; and Richard Ford, executive creative director, Landor Associates. “

Among the topics to be covered include:

  • Engaging the 21st Century Passenger  — big picture consumer trends and consumer reactions

  • Meeting 21st Century Passenger Expectations – a focus on how airlines should respond

  • How and Why Airlines Should Use Cabin Environments to Differentiate Themselves

  • Using the Cabin Interior as a Competitive Weapon

  • How to Make New Technology Pay in the Smart Cabin

  • What are the New Cabin Opportunities in Next Generation Aircraft

“AIX Americas will provide the forum for leading aircraft interiors suppliers to showcase their latest concepts and equipment to first, business and economy class markets, as well as low-cost carriers,” Reader said. “Our interior suppliers will also have products for the highly specialized VIP sectors”.

AIX Americas is geared to airline interiors suppliers and buyers worldwide, but the particular focus will be on U.S., Canadian, Caribbean and Latin American carriers, aircraft manufacturers and related industries. The event will also be co-located in the Long Beach Convention Center with the World Airline Entertainment Association’s (WAEA) 29th Annual Conference & Exhibition taking place from September 8-11 creating a one stop shop for the aircraft interiors industry.

WAEA is a not-for-profit organization whose worldwide network represents nearly 100 airlines and more than 250 airline suppliers and related companies.
