Company to initiate a total of five international flights
SAO PAULO, Brazil, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — TAM (Bovespa:
TAMM4 and NYSE: TAM) is announcing an international market growth plan that
surpasses estimates announced to the market at the end of 2007.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080221/SPTH002LOGO )
In South America, in addition to the direct flight between Brasilia and
Buenos Aires already in operation, TAM will initiate a flight between Sao
Paulo and Lima (Peru) before the end of the year. For long distance routes,
we have already announced the start of flight service between Rio de
Janeiro and Miami, departing from Belo Horizonte starting on September 19.
Before the end of the year, we will be initiating two flights that are
now in the final phase of approval before ANAC. Daily flights between:
— Rio de Janeiro and New York, and
— Sao Paulo and Orlando
To sustain our plan for international growth, we are adding two Boeing
767-300 aircraft to our fleet plan. With this we will finish 2008 with 125
aircraft, as indicated in the following table:
2008 2009 2010 2011 2012
B777 4 4 4 4 8
B767 4 4 4 4 4
Airbus wide-body 16 18 20 22 22
Airbus narrow-body 101 104 110 113 115
Total Fleet 125 130 138 143 143
In this way, we will be surpassing the estimates previously announced
to the market, maintaining our strategy of selective growth in the
international market and serving the main destinations sought by
Brazilians. This growth is a response to the opportunity currently
available to Brazilian companies that fly to international destinations.

Embraer Signs Service Contract with China’s Kun Peng Airlines
August 26, 2008
ECIP program will support the EMBRAER 190 jet soon to enter service with the airline
São José dos Campos, August 26, 2008 – Embraer signed a five-year Embraer Collaborative
Inventory Parts (ECIP) service contract with Kun Peng Airlines Co., Ltd., the newest E-Jets
operator in China. Kun Peng currently has more than 1,900 part numbers from seven
maintenance bases covered by ECIP.
“With this program, Kun Peng Airlines will optimize its spare parts supply chain by
simplifying it,” said Siu Ying Yeung, Vice President, Customer Support and Services –
Embraer China. “We increased our spare parts support assurance to Kun Peng through
proactive participation in its supply process, which will result in great aircraft availability.
This is win-win cooperation for both of us.”
The ECIP program monitors customer parts usage, guarantees automatic stock replenishment,
shortens delivery times for contracted parts, and establishes a baseline for the carriers to better
manage their costs. By reducing the workload for planning, controlling and purchasing
expendable parts, the airlines can also save management time for repairable items.
“Supported by ECIP, we expect to significantly reduce the operational risk of our EMBRAER 190
by having the spare parts supply well guaranteed,” said Han Dexing, Vice President, Safety
and Maintenance, Kun Peng Airlines. “We are looking forward to being covered by more
Embraer service programs, and we firmly believe that due to the sound cooperation between
both parties, the future operation of our EMBRAER 190 will be very good.”
Kun Peng Airlines is a joint venture between China’s Shen Zhen Airlines and the Mesa Air
Group, of the United States. In July 2008, Embraer announced a firm order for five
EMBRAER 190 jets by Kun Peng, which will become the second operator of the E-Jets
family in mainland China. The first delivery is scheduled for August 2008.

August 26, 2008
New Search Technology from Online Student Travel Leader Helps Students Find
the Cheapest Airline Tickets
WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ — Leading online student and
faculty travel provider StudentUniverse.com today introduced new
proprietary search technology that allows flexible date search

StudentUniverse.com is the first travel search engine to offer a real-time
flexible date search function. Users can select to search up to three days
before and three days after their preferred departure and return dates to
get real time cheapest fares on up to 49 travel day combinations — plus an
expanded array of more airfare options with one click. In addition to
introducing new search technology StudentUniverse has launched a completely
redesigned Web site to help streamline student travel searches.
“We know that the average student searches several travel day
combinations when booking air travel. Our new site does the work for you —
providing students with the best fares across more itineraries with one
search,” said Atle Skalleberg, head of research and marketing for
StudentUniverse.com. “We made a real investment in technology to help make
it possible for college students and faculty to find cheaper fares faster,”
Skalleberg continued.
StudentUniverse.com Homepage:
To use the flexible search tool, students simply enter preferred dates
of travel and use the drop down feature to select their flexibility. Users
can get three days flexibility on their departure and return date,
resulting in up to 49 unique date combinations. No other travel site offers
this feature with live availability.
Search Results:
Results are displayed in an easy-to-read grid with the cheapest fares
for up to 49 date combinations, including the specified travel dates. Use
mouse to roll over desired flight to display basic flight information
including carrier, number of stops and price on the left hand side of the
screen.
Finding the Cheapest Alternative:
Once users find the best alternative in the matrix they can get
additional flight information, including flight departure and arrival
times, taxes and airline information below the matrix. Users can easily
sort the results to find what suits them.
A team of developers at StudentUniverse.com sifted through years of
usability testing to create a Web site design to represent
StudentUniverse.com’s mission — to help students find the cheapest travel.
“Not only will the improvements in search technology help students get
more results faster, but a new clean and streamlined look will make it even
easier for students to find what they are looking for,” said Chad Mooney,
Project Manager for the new StudentUniverse site and services.
“We are not a huge company telling students what they want. We are a
small company listening to students and enhancing our Web site based on
specific feedback,” said Skalleberg. “Students can be more flexible with
travel dates and price is most important when booking travel. With the new
flexible search functionality at StudentUniverse.com students can see the
different prices for up to a week’s worth of travel dates and can be
