ExecuJet Aviation Group to expand completions activity

September 8, 2008

ExecuJet Aviation Group is marking three years’ activity of handling aircraft interior design and completions by moving into larger executive jet types. By the end of the year, the Zurich, Switzerland-based company is hoping to add Airbus ACJ and Boeing Business Jets to its current, primarily Bombardier Business Jets portfolio. A brand new dedicated customer showroom, located at Zurich Headquarters is scheduled to open this autumn.
The expansion of our interior and completion business is mirroring the growth of activity, not just from new build aircraft deliveries, but increasingly in response to rejuvenated interest to create new looks for pre-owned aircraft,” says Pascal Jallier, Head of Completions at ExecuJet Aviation Group.
Australia and Asia Pacific are big growth regions, as is the Middle East, especially for mid-sized cabin business jets. Russia is another strong market accounting for 40% of ExecuJet’s activity right now. ExecuJet will be talking up its expertise in completions and its expanded portfolio of business aviation solutions at Russia’s dedicated business aviation show, Jet Expo, in Moscow this week (September 17th-19th) at Hall 7, Stand C190.
Pascal Jallier, previously Head of Interiors for Bombardier Business Aircraft and Jet Aviation, has hands-on experience of approximately 160 business aircraft completions. He leads a team of 12 in Switzerland and is working closely with ExecuJet’s pre-owned global aircraft sales team, headed by Nicholas McHaffey from ExecuJet’s Middle East Headquarters in Dubai.
ExecuJet’s completions division has handled about 26 design and completion projects to date. In the past few months the team has been approached about new cabin interiors for the Bombardier CRJ200, the Fokker 100 regional turbofan, and the Dornier 328JET. Currently, ExecuJet is responding to RFPs for BBJ and ACJ work.
As soon as a deal is ratified on a new or second-hand aircraft, ExecuJet works hand-in-hand with the OEM to determine a customer’s specification of the cabin. The completions team will visit the operator and discuss their preferences for interiors, taking into account any in-flight entertainment requirements the customer has selected.
“Customers are becoming more savvy about what they want to offer their passengers inflight – Satcom connectivity; the ability to offer world news and sports results for example – when planning their cabin interiors. Consider that business jet operators were offering Skycam, for example, a good five years before it was featured by commercial airlines at the beginning of this decade.  We will thus think ahead and plan how in-flight installations can be accommodated within the cabin design.”
On receipt of an all new green aircraft, ExecuJet’s completions team will conduct a series of tests – verify that all components are in place, and conduct a full inventory and conduct a full inventory and quality check, for example. Our so-called ‘white glove’ test, the culmination of a complete interior cabin completions test, is very thorough.
ExecuJet has a broad number of international accreditations for its MRO/technical services work and its FBO activity, as befits an organization that oversees more than 120 business aircraft on management contracts on eight Aircraft Operating Certificates (AOCs) around the world.  ExecuJet works primarily with Bombardier business jet models, reflecting the close relationship that the two companies enjoy, but it has also worked on Falcon, Gulfstream, Embraer and Citation types.

THORTON, CO UNITED STATES

DULLES, Va., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — GeoEye, Inc. (Nasdaq:
GEOY), a premier provider of satellite, aerial and geospatial information,
announced today the successful launch and deployment of GeoEye-1, the
world’s highest resolution, commercial Earth-imaging satellite.

GeoEye’s ground station in Norway relayed the downlink signal it
received from GeoEye-1 confirming that the satellite successfully separated
from the second stage of the launch vehicle and began automatically
initializing its onboard systems.

Bill Schuster, GeoEye chief operating officer, said, “Based upon the
data we saw, the satellite is performing properly and ready to begin the
next phase towards meeting its mission requirements.” GeoEye-1 will now
undergo a calibration and check-out period before imagery products will be
available for sale.

Matthew O’Connell, GeoEye chief executive officer, said, “Later this
fall, we will start providing high-resolution color imagery of the Earth
from our newest satellite to customers around the globe. The imagery from
GeoEye-1 adds to the quantity and quality of that currently provided by our
IKONOS satellite, and together this magnificent constellation will enable
us to meet world-wide customer demand.”

O’Connell added, “This launch, and our important relationship with the
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), shows how public-private
partnerships can be successful for the collection of broad areas of the
Earth. And all our customers can be assured of continued access to quality
products and first-class customer service.”

GeoEye-1 is part of the NGA NextView program. The NextView program is
designed to ensure that the NGA has access to commercial imagery in support
of its mission to provide timely, relevant and accurate geospatial
intelligence in support of national security. GeoEye won its $500-million
NextView contract in September 2004 and was able to build and launch
GeoEye-1 without any contract cost overruns in less than four years after
contract award.

GeoEye-1 will simultaneously collect 0.41-meter ground resolution
black-and-white (panchromatic) images and 1.65-meter color (multispectral)
images. Designed to take digital images of the Earth from 423 miles (681
kilometers) and moving at a speed of about four-and-a-half miles (seven
kilometers) per second, the satellite camera can distinguish objects on the
Earth’s surface as small as 0.41-meter or 16 inches in size. Due to U.S.
licensing restrictions, commercial customers will get access to imagery at
half-meter ground resolution.

GeoEye-1 was built by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems in
Gilbert, Ariz. The imaging system was built by ITT in Rochester, NY. ITT is
also building the imaging system for GeoEye-2 slated for launch in 2011.
The 4310-pound satellite was launched at 11:50 a.m. PDT on a United Launch
Alliance Delta II rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The
launch of GeoEye-1 marks the 83rd consecutive successful launch of the
Delta II rocket.

TACA inaugura vuelos a Asunción y aumenta frecuencias a Montevideo.

September 6, 2008

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (September 5, 2008) – Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that Eric Cardinali has been named president of Bell Helicopter Canada. He replaces Jacques St-Laurent who is moving to a new position as president of Bell Helicopter’s European operations.

“Eric’s proven leadership ability, international business acumen, and outstanding performance results make him a perfect strategic fit for the continued success of our Canadian operations,” said Richard Millman, president and CEO of Bell Helicopter. “Moving Eric into this position highlights the value of Textron’s Networked Enterprise, allowing Bell to draw upon the pool of talent across all of Textron. I look forward to the results we are confident he will deliver.”

Cardinali comes from E-Z-GO, a Textron company and a leading manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, where he was vice president, Integrated Supply Chain. He has over 20 years experience in domestic and international manufacturing and sales. Cardinali first joined Textron in 2001 at Jacobsen, a turf maintenance equipment and utility vehicle manufacturer in Lincoln, NE. He created a culture of operational excellence at E-Z-GO – achieving significant improvements in productivity, first time quality, and inventory turns.

Jacques St-Laurent leaves Bell Helicopter Canada after a six year term as president. PLUNA S.A.: TRANSFER THE MADRID ROUTE TO THE GOVERNMENT

September 5, 2008

Based on all the controversy surrounding the “born again” airline’s decision to cancel its flights to Madrid, Leadgate, which has control and management of the airline has proposed that the government, through its ownership in PLUNA ENTE which owns the minority stake in the airline, take over the B767 and personnel required in order to maintain the route. PLUNA S.A. would provide the technical and marketing support required to maintain the operation which would be at the government’s risk. In a public statement the airline’s CEO, Matias Campiani, stated: “if the government believes the Madrid operation is a strategic objective we are prepared to transfer the operation and provide whatever assistance and support is necessary. But our decision to suspend the route is based on the overall financial stability and future of the airline”. He also pointed out the airline has opened six new regional destinations in the past 12 months. It will also add direct flights to Asuncion in the next few months. He also stressed the fact that the code share agreement with Iberia means that its customers can now use their Pluna tickets to fly to and from Madrid and ten additional destinations in Europe. Finally, he also stated that if the government does not want Leadgate, as the 75% owner of the airline to manage the airline as a business, they are prepared to negotiate their leaving the airline under certain conditions.
