Kidde Aerospace & Defense to Supply Gulfstream G650 Fire Detection System

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ — Gulfstream has selected
Hamilton Sundstrand’s Kidde Aerospace & Defense unit to provide the engine
fire detection system for Gulfstream’s new G650 business jet. Hamilton
Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The engine and nacelle-mounted fire detectors and control unit are
designed and manufactured by Kidde Graviner in Colnbrook, England. Kidde
Graviner currently supplies Gulfstream the engine fire detection system for
its G350, G450, G500 and G550 aircraft.
Gulfstream previously selected Hamilton Sundstrand to provide several
major systems on its new G650 business jet, including the primary
Electrical Power Generating System, the emergency power Ram Air Turbine and
power distribution boxes.

to extend our relationship with Gulfstream on its latest business jet
entry.”
The G650 will offer the longest range, fastest speed, largest cabin and
most-advanced cockpit in the Gulfstream fleet. Using an advanced
aerodynamic design, the G650 will have a maximum operating speed of 0.925
Mach, which will make it the fastest flying civil aircraft. Gulfstream
expects to begin G650 customer deliveries in 2012. Based on the aircraft
development schedule, the company projects it will receive Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) Type Certification and validation by the European
Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) in 2011. First flight of the aircraft is
scheduled for the second half of 2009.
