EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The F-22 Raptor
Performance Based Logistics Team comprised of Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed
Martin Aeronautics and the Boeing Company, were recently awarded the 2008
Performance Based Logistics System Level Award by the Secretary of Defense.
The F-22 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney F119 engines. Pratt & Whitney is
a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

These awards are a joint development by the Secretary of Defense,
Department of Defense, the Defense Acquisition University and the Aerospace
Industries Association, and acknowledge outstanding government-industry
partnerships at the system, subsystem and component level. PBL is a
logistics discipline that focuses on performance and capability rather than
product or service alone.

“Every one here at Pratt & Whitney has worked very hard to provide the
F119 engines with the proven performance and critical capability that our
customers expect,” said Tyler Evans, F119 Program Director. “We are truly
honored to stand with the entire F-22 PBL team and have our efforts
recognized by our customer.”

This recognition comes on the heels of another honor received by the
Pratt & Whitney F119 team which was recently selected as a finalist for the
2008 Aviation Week Program Excellence Award. The Program Excellence Award
was designed to share lessons learned and to strengthen and accelerate the
development of aerospace and defense program leaders. The winner of the
award will be named at a recognition event on Nov. 30.

The F-22 Raptor is powered by two Pratt & Whitney’s F119 engines, and
is the only fifth generation fighter engine in operational service. The
F119, which has logged more than 85,900 successful operational, in-flight
hours, features a unique thrust-vectoring nozzle, allowing for
unprecedented speed, agility, precision and situational awareness combined
with air-to-ground and air-to-air combat capabilities. It also shares a
common legacy with Pratt & Whitney’s F135 engine, the only engine currently
powering the fifth generation F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and
service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas
turbines. United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified
company providing high technology products and services to the global
aerospace and commercial building industries.
