RDT, the UK-based remote medical monitoring specialist, is  showcasing its new Tempus ICTM telemedicine device at the annual MEBA Conference in Dubai, Stand No 542.  Tempus ICTM allows even a non-medical user to take and transmit eight key vital signs, giving doctors on the ground the clinical data needed for confident diagnosis and fast treatment, even whilst in-flight.  RDT has secured over one hundred global pre-orders for the system from commercial airlines, maritime, private aircraft owners and VIP clients including leading commercial airlines V Australia and Emirates. Emirates have selected Tempus ICTM for a fleet wide upgrade and for their new A380s. “Securing this many pre-orders is testament to the step change this innovative product brings to the market.” said RDT CEO Graham Murphy.
This is the first time that RDT has exhibited at MEBA. “Clients in the business aviation industry are highly sophisticated and accustomed to receiving the highest quality products and customer care.  MEBA represents an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate to an important market that, with Tempus ICTM, getting the best medical attention no longer depends on being in the right place at the right time” said Murphy.
The device enables users to collect key vital signs including blood pressure, pulse and 12-lead electrocardiogram.  It transmits this data over existing communications technology to a chosen medical response centre.   It also includes a voice and video link that enable the doctor to see and hear the user, and is the next best thing to having a physician present.
Tempus ICTM with its full telemedicine capabilities is a much smaller, lighter and more robust version of RDT’s existing product Tempus 2000.  Built on the pedigree of Tempus 2000, Tempus ICTM delivers a world class telemedicine device.  The latest generation of business aircraft are flying higher and over longer range. RDT believe any investment owners and companies make in preparing for an in-flight emergency is both sound and responsible.  “The business aviation market is where RDT started out 10 years ago and it remains extremely important to the success of our business. Sales from this sector currently account for about 40% of its customer base and RDT is being represented by a global team of sales and key account managers to service the market” said RDT CEO Graham Murphy.
“Tempus ICTM is invaluable when remotely managing a medical situation, because it gives MedAire’s MedLink doctors the clinical quality data needed to make a better diagnostic impression. The parameters available when taking a Tempus call are essentially the same as those one would have in most ER rooms.” said Paulo M. Alves, M.D., Vice President of Medical Services, MedAire Inc.
RDT delivered the first systems to customers in October. “Tempus ICTM better meets the needs of our customers and, for RDT, improves access to existing markets and expedites expansion into new markets such as the military where previews are being very well received” says Murphy.
RDT’s Middle Eastern client base already includes Royal Jet, Dubai Airwing, Bahrain Royal Flight and Royal Flight Oman. “We felt adding the advanced Tempus service on board the fleet enables Royal Jet to maintain its commitment towards VIPs such as royalty, ministers, celebrities, senior executives and individuals requiring absolute discretion in their travels” says Captain Tilmann Gabriel, CEO, Royal Jet.
