LIAT distances itself from Stanford

LIAT management issued a statement stressing that Sir Allen Stanford has no stake in the regional airline. Mark Darby, LIAT CEO, confirmed that LIAT held talks with the Stanford Financial Group in 2006 and 2007. While no transaction was ever concluded, LIAT did acquire some of the assets of Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun, two former airlines owned by Sir Allen.
