COPA reports a slight profit drop in 2008

Copa Holdings, S.A., the parent company of Copa Airlines and Aero Republica, posted a $152.2 million profit in 2008, a 6% drop compared to the $161.1 million posted in 2007; this due to fuel price variations during the last year, said company officials during a press conference.
The operating incomes of Copa Holdings, identified by the CPA ticker in the stock market, was of $84 million, 95% more compared to the $43 million obtained during the last quarter of 2007.
Additionally, it was said that during the same period the holding acquired two Embraer 190 jets and remains in a solid position with a capital of $408 million and several short-term investments. Also, sources close to the company said that during the last week it was delivered Copa Airlines’ 43th Boeing 737-800.
