The Brazilian company Embraer has announced that it will cut an estimate 20% of its work force, composed by more than 21 thousand employees due to the unprecedented crisis that is affecting the global economy. The more than 4 thousand positions to be eliminated are concentrated in the production and administration areas, where a complete management layer is disappearing from the structure. In contrast, almost all the personnel in the areas of engineering and technology are to remain in their posts, securing that the company can continue developing new products. Embraer forecasts an income of 5.5 billion and expects to deliver 242 commercial and executive aircraft.

Earlier this month rival Bombardier Aerospace informed that it will reduce the number of temporary and contract workers and cut 350 permanent employees, amounting to about 4.5% of the total workforce.
