WICHITA, Kan., April 2, 2009 – Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today Korean Air has ordered two Citation CJ1+ aircraft to boost its advanced pilot training capability.

The two new Citation CJ1+ aircraft will have a special center-mounted instructor/observer seat just behind the two pilot seats to provide a more robust training environment. The CJ1+s join Korean Air’s existing fleet of Citation Ultras, which have been used for advanced pilot training platforms since the aircraft entered service in 1995.

“Korean Air is one of the world’s leading passenger and cargo airlines, with the very highest standards set to achieve its long-term goals. In selecting the thrifty CJ1+ as its new advanced pilot trainer, Korean Air is further strengthening its industry leading pilot training program,” said Robert Hollander, Citation regional sales director, Asia/Pacific. “The combination of advanced avionics, performance and handling characteristics, durable design and low cost of operation makes it an ideal aircraft for this high-utilization environment.”

The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 3rd Quarter 2009 and will be based at Korean Air’s pilot training center at Jeju, South Korea. Korean Air joins Lufthansa and the Civil Aviation Flight University of China in selecting the Citation CJ1+ for cost effective, advanced pilot training.

The CJ1+ program was first announced at the NBAA annual convention in 2004 and won its type certificate less than a year later. It is designed for two crew and five passengers (though it can be operated single-pilot). It has a top speed of 389 knots (720 km/h) and a range of 1,300 nautical miles (2408 km). Like the rest of the popular CJ line, the 1+ features Williams engines (FJ44-1AP for the CJ1+) and Collins Pro Line 21 avionics.
