APRIL 21, 2009 SUNDSVALL, SWEDEN – Air Italy announced today their selection of navAero tñBagC22 computer and display systems as the Class 2 EFB flight deck hardware of choice to equip their B737, B757 and B767 fleets.

Air Italy made the selection of the navAero technology for the affordable operational functionalities and retrofit cost savings they will realize through the deployment of the tñBagC22 EFB hardware.

“Our choice was clear in selecting the navAero Class 2 EFB system.” said Captain Sala, Air Italy EFB Pilot Project, Navigation & Technical Operations Manager. “Their technology will provide Air Italy with cost effective EFB systems to run the software we need on our flight decks to help us increase our operational efficiencies. We are developing an application suite that will integrate various IT resources – and with the built-in connectivity that the navAero EFB system has, we will be able to realize improved communication efficiency throughout our entire company infrastructure”.
Dual networked installations of the navAero tñBagC22 hardware systems – featuring built-in HSDPA/UMTS/GRPS/EDGE connectivity – will be installed on the B737 300/700, B757-200 and B767-200/300 flight decks. The navAero EFB configuration includes the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor and ARINC429 connection. Certification for these airframes is being executed by navAero.
Deployment on the Air Italy fleets will start during calendar year 2009. Flying trials are scheduled to commence in Q2 2009, and it is anticipated that these fleets will be fully deployed and operational by the end of 2009.

“We are extremely excited to have Italian based Air Italy airline as the newest member of our fast- growing list of airlines who have seen navAero’s technology as the way-to-go for EFB hardware.” stated Simone Giordano, navAero spokeperson. “We are providing an affordable and robust solution that meets both the most demanding environmental requirements and airline operators ROI demands. For our customers, that means they can get an affordable business tool that can help them improve productivity and operating efficiency – either using available 3rd party software or developing their own application suites to meet their specific needs.”
