AgustaWestland has obtained an order from Egypt’s Petroleum Air Services for an AW139 helicopter plus an option for two more. The deal marks the entry of the AW139 in the Egyptian market, where it will be used by PAS for offshore oil and gas support operations. AgustaWestland has also clinched an order for one Grand light twin helicopter from Esperia Aviation Services. The aircraft, configured with six cabin seats, will be used for passenger transport from the Italian business aircraft operator’s base at Urbe airport in Rome, Italy. In April 2008 AgustaWestland and Esperia partnered to develop a helicopter hub at Urbe. Esperia is building new hangars, plus hospitality and office areas, and will provide passenger transport and corporate helicopter management services, while AgustaWestland is establishing a helicopter maintenance centre.
