Uruguay tourism represents 6.09% of GNP according to the WTO

At a meeting organized by the Minister of Tourism and the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism, WTO’s consultant, Juan Falconi, announced that tourism will represent 6.09% of the country’s GNP in 2009. This is a slight drop from the 6.5% recorded in 2005. This compares to 1.9% in Colombia, 4.3% in Ecuador, 3.3% in Peru; the numbers are much higher, 12% in Mexico and some countries in the Caribbean.
