France orders eight additional Airbus Military CN235
April 18, 2010
The Ministry of Defense of France and Airbus Military have signed a contract for the acquisition of eight CN235-300 aircraft for the French Air Force.
Delivery of the newly ordered CN235s will begin middle of next year as a measure to replace part of the aging C160-Transalls when used for missions involving the transport of less than six tonnes of payload.
These aircraft come in addition to the 19 CN235-200 already in operation with the French Air Force. They will help developing light transport, logistics, and paratroop training missions. Recently, three Fort de France (French Caribbean) based CN235s significantly contributed to the Haiti relief activities.
The maintenance of the new aircraft will be handled by Airbus Military through the FISS (Full In Service Support) agreement.
“We are very pleased that the French Air Force has once more selected one member of our product family. This contract once more demonstrates that we have the right product range to satisfy their most varied needs in terms of strategic and tactical transport needs” said Domingo Ureña, CEO of Airbus Military.
To date, more than 800 Airbus Military Light and Medium aircraft have been ordered by 128 customers and nations, of which 645 are in service in 57 countries both for military and civic/humanitarian missions.

A330-200 Freighter receives Type Certification from EASA
April 18, 2010
Aircraft’s payload capability of 70 tonnes is one tonne greater than expected
The A330-200F has been granted Type Certification today by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) following a successful 200-hour flight-test campaign. The trials were performed by two aircraft, covering both engine types on offer: the Pratt and Whitney PW4000 and the Rolls-Royce Trent 700.
This dedicated freighter aircraft, which is a derivative of the A330-200 passenger model, has been certified through an amendment to the existing A330-200 EASA Type Certificate granted to Airbus in 1998. This EASA award will be followed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Type Certification.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Toulouse, Christian Favre, A330/340 Chief Engineer said: “After a very smooth and successful flight test campaign we have reached certification in line with our planning. Moreover, thanks to some design optimisation, the aircraft’s payload capability of 70 tonnes is one tonne more than first expected.”
He added: “With the freighter market already showing signs of recovery, rising by 20 per cent so far this year, we now have a great new aircraft to offer customers,” he concluded.
The A330-200F features an optimised fuselage cross-section, offering flexibility to carry a wide variety of pallet and container sizes. The aircraft offers 30 per cent more volume than any freighter in its class, and is based on the proven and technologically-advanced A330 platform, for which Airbus has over 1,000 orders and already more than 650 aircraft in service.
Over 3,400 freighters will be needed in the next 20 years to cater for a 5.2 percent average annual growth rate. This will include around 1,600 mid-sized freighters, of which the A330-200F will play an important role.

IZADO DE LA CUBIERTA DEL NUEVO HANGAR DE MANTENIMIENTO DE IBERIA EN BARCELONA
April 18, 2010
TEXAS AVIATION SERVICES AND SIERRA AERONAUTICA FLOURISH IN BRAZIL
April 16, 2010
SAO PAULO, Brazil, April 8, 2010 — Texas Aviation Services (TAS), a leader for over 39 years in helicopter and aircraft services, along with its in-country partner Sierra Aeronautica, announced today the outlook for 2010 deliveries into Brazil.
The year 2009 was yet another monumental year for Texas Aviation Services and Sierra Aeronautica. Together, exclusive teaming arrangements were reassigned, record deliveries were set, TAS achieved its Authorized Agusta Westland Service Center and the ANAC Repair Station was renewed.
Sierra Aeronautica remains the exclusive agent for Texas Aviation Services in the Country of Brazil and is based at Helicidade in the city of Sao Paulo. Through Sierra Aeronautica, TAS delivered multiple Agusta 109 Power and Grand completions, performed maintenance and overhauls for existing customers, and delivered several high-end heavy medium rotorcraft completions to include the AW-139 and EC-155. In October of 2009 TAS was certified as an Authorized Service Center for the Agusta Westland 139, A109 Series and the A119 Koala. In addition, TAS underwent a very detailed audit by Brazilian Civil Aviation Authorities and was renewed its ANAC Repair Station in August of 2009.
The two companies forecast the balance of 2010 to be just as monumental. One delivery a month is scheduled into Brazil and will include the Bell 206 series, Bell 407’s, Agusta 109’s, AW-139’s and multiple EC-155’s. The types of configurations will vary between VIP, Law Enforcement and offshore utility. As all TAS Brazilian completions, the aircraft will depart the Texas facility already Brazilian ANAC compliant; minimizing any delays into the country of Brazil. The ANAC Repair Station saves customer’s on average ninety to one hundred days of time once the aircraft arrives in Brazil. This time savings is so valuable, as many of the operators need the aircraft in service as soon as possible. Delays from importation and certification can cost companies millions of dollars in down time and/or contractual delays. These delays are minimized by TAS and Sierra Aeronautica through the ANAC Repair Station.
Marcos Braga, CEO of Sierra Aeronautica said, “I am very proud to have my personal name and organization associated with Texas Aviation. I believe in the quality product TAS provides and I am honored to provide this service to my clients and friends throughout Brazil”
John Murphey, CEO of TAS said: “We really look forward to the momentum established in 2009 carrying into 2010. TAS is committed to the Brazilian market through Sierra Aeronautica and we look forward to our continued support into Brazil for many years to come.”
