São Paulo, Brazil, Aug. 11, 2011 – Piper Aircraft Inc. and its Brazilian dealer J.P. Martins Aviacao Ltda. (J. P. Martins Aviation Ltd.) have increased Piper sales into Brazil nearly 20 percent in 2011 compared to 2010.
Retail value of the 27 aircraft delivered and scheduled to be delivered this year totals nearly $26,000,000. Piper and J.P. Martins delivered 23 aircraft into the country in 2010.
“Piper Aircraft continues to be exceptionally pleased with the performance of J.P. Martins Aviacao in Brazil and with the robust Brazilian market,” said Piper President and CEO Geoffrey Berger at the Eighth Annual Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (LABACE) here.
Largest Piper Dealer in the World
“João Paulo Martins and his company have risen to become the largest Piper dealer in the world through expansive knowledge of the industry and exceptional customer service. The Piper sales success in Brazil reflects the company’s intense focus on this important economic region of the world and our global reach,” Berger added.
J.P. Martins is displaying a number of Piper airplane models at the Congonhas Airport for viewing by LABACE attendees. Already this year, Piper and J.P. Martins have delivered two single-engine Piper Meridian turboprops and four single-engine piston powered Piper Matrix aircraft into the country and two additional Matrix aircraft are scheduled for delivery this year. In addition the company has delivered 11 Piper Seneca V’s into Brazil with another eight scheduled.
Seeking Unpaved Runway Approval for Meridian
Berger said that Piper is working toward achieving unpaved runway certification for the Piper Meridian turboprop, first in the United States and then quickly in Brazil. “Opening up more small airports to Piper Meridian customers will serve to further increase our sales success here in Brazil,” he said. The piston-powered Piper Matrix and Piper Mirage already are approved for unpaved runway operations in Brazil.
