FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany (April 15, 2015) – Cessna Aircraft Company, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, today announced at AERO Friedrichshafen in Germany that its Grand Caravan EX has earned certification for a 14-place configuration from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). “The approval by EASA to certify the 14-place Grand Caravan EX is a win for both Cessna and our customers, as it will allow many new uses for the aircraft in Europe,” said Christi Tannahill, senior vice president, Turboprop Aircraft and Interior Design. “Regulatory agencies around the world look to EASA as a leading aviation approval authority and often follow suit with certifications, so this will open up new markets for the 14-place configuration.”
The EASA countries join a list of nearly 10 other nations that recognize a 14-place seating configuration. Textron Aviation is showcasing a Grand Caravan EX at its static display this week at Friedrichshafen Airport.

ATR expands its network of recommended maintenance centers in Brazil
April 20, 2015
The aircraft manufacturer has signed a collaborative partnership with the aeronautical repairs company TAP M&E
Today, ATR and TAP M&E (TAP Maintenance & Engineering), Brazilian specialist in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, announced the signing of a dual partnership. On one hand, TAP M&E has joined the network of centers recommended by ATR for the maintenance of the airframes of its aircraft; on the other hand, the aircraft manufacturer has also chosen TAP M&E as first spare parts repair center in Brazil, for support of its maintenance contracts (GMA: Global Maintenance Agreement) offered to ATR operators.
ATR is thus continuing to develop its “MRO” (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) network with the first approved center in Latin America. Prior to this, ATR had already signed agreements of this type with Fokker Services (Singapore), Rheinland Air Service (Germany) and Atlantic Air Industries (France). Under the terms of this agreement, TAP M&E will follow ATR’s service policy, aimed at offering optimal solutions to operators through respect for the basic rules of customer service defined by ATR.
Through its MRO network, ATR provides its operators with a global network of highly-trained independent suppliers of aircraft maintenance services. ATR’s MRO network is a major step for the regional policy put in place by ATR’s Customer Support, with the aim of offering approved local solutions to ATR operators in the fields of logistics, training and maintenance.
Regarding this new partnership, Valter Fernandes Operations’ Executive Vice-President from TAP M&E, said: “We are really pleased to have been selected by ATR to be a part of their network of approved maintenance centers. Being chosen and recommended by the aircraft manufacturer for various repair services is a major sign of recognition for the quality of our work. We are proud to be able to contribute to the expansion of ATR’s activities in Brazil, and to use our airframe and component expertise for the success of its operators in the region.”
Lilian Braylé, ATR’s Senior Vice-President Product Support and Services highlighted “the importance of continuing to expand our network of approved maintenance centers. Through ATR’s MRO network, we will broaden and enrich the range of solutions offered to ATR operators, by working with highly qualified MRO suppliers, selected with care for their proven knowledge and experience in maintenance activities. Our partnerships with a few key MRO suppliers also allow us to extend our offer of global maintenance contracts to airframe maintenance.”
ATR sets up a new warehouse in Brazil
April 20, 2015
The stock of spare parts will be housed in São Paulo on the premises of Helibras, a Brazilian Customer Center of Airbus Helicopters
ATR and Helibras are pleased to announce the signing of a partnership for setting up an ATR warehouse on the logistic center premises of this Customer Center of Airbus Helicopters in Brazil. With this new partnership, the aircraft manufacturer will continue to expand its network of customer support centers worldwide. The agreement will also allow ATR to continue to improve its service offer in Latin America, a region where ATRs have been the best-selling regional aircraft for the past ten years. Following its commercial success in the region, the fleet of ATRs in operation has increased since 2005 from 70 aircraft to almost 180, and will exceed 200 aircraft next year.
In these new facilities, ATR will make a stock of spare parts available including Line Replacement Units, in direct support of its GMA (Global Maintenance Agreement) service for its Brazilian customers. This new center, which is part of ATR’s approach of always being as close as possible to its operators, is the sixth of this type for ATR, which already has other spare parts centers in Paris, Miami, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Auckland (New Zealand).
Flávio Pires, Support and Services Vice-President from Helibras, said that they were “very pleased to accommodate the ATR stock in our facilities in São Paulo, and to contribute to the consolidation of ATR’s activities in Brazil. We are part of the same family, through our common shareholder. It seems very fitting to provide our support in terms of logistics and stock management so that ATR can develop a support network in Brazil on a par with its commercial success in the region.”
Lilian Braylé, ATR’s Senior Vice-President Product Support and Services highlighted “the strategic importance of setting up a stock of spare parts in one of the countries in which ATR’s presence is most broadly developed. We must guarantee our operators an excellent level of service. Setting up this new service is part of this approach to support our operators in their daily operations in order to contribute to their success.”
ATR and AZUL sign a new contract for global maintenance
April 20, 2015
The agreement relates to the Brazilian airline’s fleet of almost 60 ATR aircraft
Today ATR and the Brazilian airline AZUL signed a contract to renew the global maintenance of the carrier’s ATR fleet, made up of almost 60 aircraft, mostly ATR 72-600s and ATR 72-500s. This GMA (Global Maintenance Agreement) is for duration of five years, and includes the provision of a stock of spare parts at the company’s facilities, including mainly LRUs (Line Replacement Units). The agreement also included the management of the repairs of these parts and restocking them through a pool, and an availability and repair service for propeller blades and landing gear. Through this agreement, AZUL will also have access to the new warehouse that ATR is about to open in São Paulo, in partnership with Helibras.
ATR and AZUL previously signed an initial contract for global maintenance in 2010. Approximately a third of the ATR fleet worldwide is currently covered by GMAs with the manufacturer.
Cesar Okajima, Director of the AZUL Supply Chain, declared: “Given the size of our ATR fleet, it is essential that we ensure that we have quick access to a large stock of spare parts for our aircraft. Likewise, it is important for us to be able to rely on the expertise and knowledge of the manufacturer regarding the management of repairs for certain parts and equipment. The success of our operations is based on our joint capabilities to ensure efficient availability of all stock and services.”
Lilian Braylé, ATR’s Senior Vice-President Product Support and Services, stated: “The contract renewal strengthens the cooperation that we have built together since the arrival of the first ATR aircraft in the airline’s fleet in 2010. Thanks to new partnerships that we are currently setting up in Brazil, we will have the opportunity to offer AZUL increased services and even more responsiveness in terms of their requirements for spare parts and repair services. We are delighted to be able to contribute to AZUL’s deployment and to the consolidation of its success as a benchmark airline in Brazil.”
