GOLETA, Calif., Sept. 12, 2008 /PRNewswire/ — A radar warning receiver
that equips the U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F has earned Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN)
and its U.S. Navy partner a Performance-Based Logistics Award from the
Office of the Secretary of Defense.

The citation recognized the “superb efforts” of a team representing the
Naval Inventory Control Point and Raytheon in meeting the terms of a $150
million performance-based logistics contract for the ALR-67(V)3 receiver.
The contract set several precedents, including the Navy’s willingness to
award it a full year before delivery of the first production unit. The team
is supported by the Naval Underwater Warfare Center-Keyport, the Fleet
Readiness Center Southeast, and NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command).

The receiver offers sophisticated digital technology to detect and
identify threat radar emitters, enhancing the survivability of aircraft
that rely on the system. Initially deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom,
the system has been chosen by several international air forces for their
F/A-18 tactical fleets.

“Operational readiness and system reliability are critical battlefield
discriminators,” said Roy Azevedo, manager of Raytheon’s Electronic Warfare
business area. “This is truly a life-saving product for the aviators who
serve in the F/A-18, and we take great pride in helping to bring them home
safely.”

The PBL awards program was established to recognize joint
government-industry teams that demonstrate outstanding achievements in PBL
development, implementation and execution. This is the third consecutive
year Raytheon has received a PBL award. The permanent PBL award is publicly
displayed at the Defense Acquisition University.

Raytheon’s PBL program is managed by the company’s Space and Airborne
Systems business at its Tactical Airborne Systems facility in Goleta,
Calif.
