Hawker Beechcraft Corporation Announces 2008 Supplier Awards

WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 5, 2008) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) recently recognized its outstanding suppliers during the second annual HBC Supplier Conference, held at HBC’s headquarters in Wichita, Kan. Awards were given in different categories including: Performance Excellence, Small Business Partner, Innovative Excellence, Performance Promise™ Champion and Supplier of the Year.

“The supplier award winners have demonstrated success in key performance principles, allowing Hawker Beechcraft to deliver its Performance Promise to our customers,” said Scott Shepherd, vice president Integrated Supply Chain Management. “Performance Promise consists of six tenets: customer, safety, quality, performance, people and innovation. Our suppliers are key partners to this promise and their commitment and reliability is crucial to our success.” Reflecting on two of the six tenets, this year’s theme was “Quality First, Safety Above All.”

Labinal de Mexico received the 2008 Supplier of the Year Award for having the most significant business impact on HBC in the past year. They demonstrated this achievement by providing outstanding quality and engineering support, creating innovative and valuable business solutions to HBC, achieving consistently high delivery, quality and performance ratings in the high 99th percentile, and operating in a true partnership with Hawker Beechcraft.

High Tech Finishing received the Performance Promise™ Champion in Performance Award by demonstrating a relentless pursuit of superior quality and commitment to continuous improvement. The Performance Promise™ Champion in Customer Award was awarded to Hartzell Propeller Inc. for demonstrating the performance customer tenets of service, support and on time delivery.

Rockwell Collins earned the distinguished Innovation Excellence Award due to their implementation of new innovative technology, product and process solutions over the last year as well as their commitment to continuous improvement.

“Everyday, Rockwell Collins demonstrates its enduring commitment to superior quality, safety, reliability and performance which is fully engrained in its business philosophies and culture across the organization,” said George Nguyen, HBC’s senior vice president, Operations, during the awards ceremony. “Whether we speak of their dedication to provide unmatched utility and durability in their products and systems or outstanding customer and program support, Rockwell Collins continues to be the standard day-in and day-out.”

Shackleford Machine was given the Small Business Partner Award as the small business supplier that consistently achieved superior quality and delivery performance as well as their commitment to continuous improvement. Shackleford Machine is a key contributor to HBC across all product lines with particular emphasis on Beechcraft King Airs and Hawker 400XP.

Performance Excellence Plaques were awarded in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels based on quantitative supplier rating system that HBC utilizes over a rolling 12 month period. The rating system lists 97 percent for Bronze, 98 percent for Silver, 99 percent for Gold and 100 percent for Platinum. A Platinum Award was given to Goodwill Industries Easter Seals of Kansas, Inc., for fully supporting HBC while achieving a 100 percent quantitative supplier rating.
