Great Wall Becomes First Chinese Airline with EcoPower(R) Service Agreement

ZHUHAI, China, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ — ZHUHAI AIR SHOW — Chinese cargo
carrier Great Wall Airlines has signed an exclusive agreement to use Pratt
& Whitney’s EcoPower engine wash service on its fleet of PW4056 engines
through 2010. All engines washes will be conducted at EcoPower’s Amsterdam
service center. This is the first Chinese customer for EcoPower service.
Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

“We are pleased to add EcoPower service to our maintenance portfolio as
we believe this will bring more customer value,” said Mr. Kuah Boon Kiam,
president, Great Wall Airlines. In July, Great Wall Airlines signed a
seven-year Fleet Management Program agreement with Pratt & Whitney covering
three Boeing 747-400 freighters powered by PW4000-94″ engines.

Pratt & Whitney’s patented EcoPower(R) washes reduce engine fuel burn
by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminate three pounds of carbon dioxide
emissions for every pound of fuel saved, and decrease engine exhaust gas
temperature (EGT) by as much as 15 degrees Celsius, improving performance
and increasing the amount of time an engine can stay on wing.

Pratt & Whitney launched the EcoPower(R) service in late 2004 and has
completed nearly 4,000 washes for more than 60 customers at 50 locations.
The EcoPower(R) engine wash service uses a closed-loop system with pure,
atomized water to wash aircraft engines, thus avoiding potential
contaminant runoff. The system is more effective and much faster than
traditional engine washing processes. Issued patents and applications cover
various aspects of EcoPower(R) engine wash services in several countries
relating to features such as water atomization, the closed-loop system,
effluent collection process and purification techniques.

Based at Shanghai Pudong Airport, Great Wall Airlines is a joint
venture company among Beijing Aerospace Satellite Applications Corporation,
Singapore Airlines Cargo and Dahlia Investments. Great Wall Airlines’
network covers major cargo hubs in Amsterdam, Manchester, Incheon, Seattle
and Chicago.
