Environmental Tectonics Corporation Announces Contract Award for a Hypobaric (High Altitude) Chamber

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Environmental Tectonics Corporation (Amex: ETC) (“ETC” or the “Company”) today announced receipt of a contract valued at $1.8 million from the U.S. Army PEO STRI Acquisition Center for ETC’s COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) Hypobaric Chamber. The Hypobaric Chamber will be supplied to the Colombia Air Force in Bogota, Colombia, South America, as part of the U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales program. The chamber will support training of personnel in altitude indoctrination flights. This will include pressure breathing exercises, combination flights, rapid decompression, oxygen equipment use and emergency procedures.

The Hypobaric Chamber will be designed and constructed to meet the safety standards of ASME-PVHO-1, Safety Standards for Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy, and NFPA 99B, Standard for Hypobaric Chambers. The chamber program will include an uninterrupted power supply, portable oxygen bottles, air conditioning system, closed circuit TV monitoring and recording, tools and test equipment, installation and spare parts.

This one year program will include both operator and maintenance training courses following installation in Bogota. ETC will also provide quarterly service visits for the first year of operation and provide any technical assistance required to supplement the training of both operator and maintenance personnel.

ETC designs, develops, installs and maintains aircrew training systems (aeromedical, tactical combat and general), disaster management training systems and services, entertainment products, sterilizers (steam and gas), environmental testing products, hyperbaric chambers and related products for domestic and international customers.
