FIDAE AIR SHOW, SANTIAGO, Chile, April 1, 2008 – BLACK HAWK helicopters have been instrumental in rescue operations during Bolivia’s recent floods, continuing more than two decades of service in Latin America. The BLACK HAWK helicopter is produced by Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

The BLACK HAWK helicopter’s versatile platform is capable of performing a variety of missions. During the floods that have plagued Bolivia since November 2007, Brazil and Chile sent PAVE HAWK helicopters, a variant in the BLACK HAWK family, to assist with rescue and humanitarian efforts.

“The BLACK HAWK helicopter continues to be a familiar sight during natural disasters as they occur throughout the world. The severe flooding in Bolivia provides another example of this aircraft’s life-saving value,” said Sikorsky President Jeffrey P. Pino.

Perhaps the most familiar of all Sikorsky products, the BLACK HAWK helicopter has been flying in Latin America since the late 1980s. Among the first customers to purchase BLACK HAWK helicopters were the Colombian Air Force, the Brazilian Army and the Chilean Air Force. In addition, BLACK HAWK helicopters are serving in Argentina and Mexico. Regionally, the aircraft is used for a variety of missions including utility, troop transport, combat assault, armed escort, medical evacuation, and disaster relief.

“Sikorsky Aircraft is proud of the legacy that the BLACK HAWK helicopter has built, mission upon mission. With scheduled deliveries planned to Colombia, Mexico and Brazil, well over 100 BLACK HAWK helicopters will be serving in the region by the end of 2009. That is a strong validation of the value this helicopter provides, especially for all those people caught in natural disasters,” Pino said.

BLACK HAWK helicopter derivatives today are serving 26 governments throughout the world in a diverse range of missions, from combat assault and peacekeeping to disaster relief and medical evacuation. Sikorsky is also introducing a BLACK HAWK model specifically designed, configured and assembled to provide good value to the international market. The S70i International BLACK HAWK Helicopter will be produced in Mielec, Poland, with deliveries expected to begin in 2011.
