PARSIPPANY, NJ–(Marketwire – April 16, 2009) – DRS Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has received nine delivery orders valued at over $110 million for spare components, repairs, and program services for Mast-Mounted Sights (MMS) on OH-58D Kiowa Warrior armed reconnaissance helicopters in the U.S. and on the battlefield.

Issued by the U.S. Army’s Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, these orders were made against a basic Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) “spares, repairs and services” contract having a maximum potential value of $913 million awarded last December. These orders cover services delivered throughout calendar year 2009; new spare components delivered June 2009 through March 2013; and repairs scheduled from June 2009 through January 2012.

Under the terms of the IDIQ contract, the delivery orders provide for comprehensive support of MMS users worldwide. Included are new spare MMS components and depot-level repair, as well as on-site field service and forward repair activities provided directly by DRS field-service personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations globally. In addition, the orders cover all the work needed to support these activities, from program management and engineering to production control and logistics.

The work will be carried out by the Melbourne, Florida, operation of the DRS Reconnaissance, Surveillance & Target Acquisition (RSTA) business group.

“Thanks to continuing performance enhancement and obsolescence mitigation, the Kiowa Warrior remains a vital weapon for the U.S. Army,” said Bob Klaver, vice president of Aviation and Depot Services for RSTA. “Our MMS electro-optical infrared technology is a major reason why this observation helicopter is an asset. It allows our warfighters to see in varying visibility conditions to achieve critical operational advantages — including advantages in acquiring, identifying and engaging targets over great distances.”

“Over the years, we’ve kept the MMS on the leading edge of technology through an ongoing series of upgrades,” said Terry Murphy, RSTA president. “As a result, this system continues to help safeguard pilots and crews, and to make them increasingly effective in even the most dangerous missions. And it does so at a known cost with low risk — absolutely critical in this era of tightening military budgets.”

DRS Technologies, headquartered in Parsippany, NJ, is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A. (FNC.MI) which employs more than 73,000 people worldwide.
