Haifa, Israel, July 14, 2008 – Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT) introduces the “Dust-Off” solution for Helicopter Low Visibility Landings (LVL).

In active war zones, military helicopters operating in a tactical environment are likely to encounter risks associated with low visibility landings. The phenomenon of low visibility occurs when the rotor of a helicopter disturbs the surface of the approach and landing area. The sand, dirt and debris become airborne and can cause loss of pilot visual reference with the ground prior to touchdown, a condition known as “Brownout”. This situation may also occur in snow conditions, known as “whiteout”. Since these situations may very easily become hazardous in military missions, a solution is essential.

Elbit Systems’ offers a solution for landing in Low Visibility situations. Dust-Off, allows helicopter pilots to maintain situational awareness and avoid obstacles during low visibility flight and adverse landing conditions. Dust-Off is based on a highly integrated avionics suite comprised of Elbit Systems’ industry leading off the shelf systems – the ANVIS/HUD®-24T (known in the U.K. as DNVG) with LOS Tracker, the “SWORD” Laser RADAR (LADAR) and a Digital Map System (DMS).

Elbit Systems commands a broad range of core technologies, systems and products and has over three decades of proven experience in providing solutions for upgrading and enhancing helicopter operations and meeting new challenges and operational demands for customers worldwide.
