Pratt & Whitney Canada Wins Contract

LONGUEUIL, Que., May 12, 2008 – Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW307B engine has been
selected by Bombardier Aerospace* to power the all-new composite Learjet 85* midsize
business jet. Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX)
company.
The PW307B turbofan engine, rated in the 6,000-pound-thrust class, is the newest
member of the increasingly popular PW300 family. The new-generation engine is designed to
deliver superior performance, high durability and low operating economics, with significantly
lower emission and noise levels. It also offers high dispatch reliability and easy maintenance.
“We aim to redefine the midsize category with the all-new Learjet 85 aircraft by offering
customers superior performance, an extraordinary cabin and exceptional value,” said David
Coleal, vice-president and general manager, Learjet. “The PW307B is the perfect match for the
Learjet 85, bringing some of the most advanced, greener engine technologies, together with
P&WC’s trademark dependability.”
The PW307B engine features the company’s TALON™ advanced combustor technology,
which significantly outperforms ICAO standards by over 30 per cent for nitrous oxide emissions.
The engine is designed for low noise and also meets Zurich 5 requirements for zero surcharge
fees.

In addition to the advanced technologies built into the PW307B, the engine incorporates over 6.5 million hours of PW300 family flying experience. Eight engine models currently make
up the PW300 family, powering some 1,000 aircraft in 50 countries.
Operators of Learjet 85 aircraft also will benefit from P&WC’s strong global customer support. This includes over 30 P&WC-owned and designated service facilities around the world,
field service representatives on all major continents, a 24-7 Customer First Centre for rapid
expert support, the most advanced diagnostic capabilities for this market and the largest pool of
P&WC rental and exchange engines in the industry.
