CAE installing new simulators in four global business aviation training centres

ORLANDO, FLORIDA–(Marketwire – Oct. 19, 2009) – (NYSE: CAE; TSX: CAE) – CAE announced today at the National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA) annual convention that eight additional business aircraft full-flight simulators (FFS) are expected to be ready for training in the next few months at its pilot and maintenance training centres in Dallas, New York, London, and Dubai.

A Cessna Citation CJ3 FFS recently received US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification at CAE’s North East Training Centre (NETC) in Morristown, New Jersey, near New York City. Training for the Embraer Phenom 300 is planned to be in place at CAE SimuFlite in Dallas, Texas and CAE’s Burgess Hill UK training centre near London in coordination with deliveries of the new aircraft during 2010 – as part of the Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) joint venture. Bombardier Learjet 45/45XR and Cessna Citation II simulators will be ready for training at Burgess Hill in early 2010. Also early next year, a new Dassault Falcon 50EX FFS will be installed in Dallas, the world’s largest business aviation training facility. In Dubai at Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT), a Hawker 800 XPi FFS is currently going through certification evaluation, and a Bombardier Global Express FFS will be installed the first half of 2010.

All of these new training devices leverage the latest capabilities of CAE’s 5000 Series simulator design, CAE Tropos-6000 image generator, and CAE TrueTM electric motion system.

“Training curricula which incorporate high-fidelity full-flight simulators have consistently proven to produce safer and more efficient business aviation pilots,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE’s Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. “CAE believes one way to further improve the safety record of business aviation is to give pilots more operationally relevant training scenarios. We are focusing on delivering training that is tailored specifically to the operational requirements of individual operators.”

Earlier this year, CAE added a Bombardier Global Express simulator to the Dallas training centre, a new Gulfstream 200 simulator at the NETC in Morristown, and a Cessna Citation XLS simulator at Burgess Hill. In early October, the Gulfstream III FFS in Dallas was upgraded with a new CAE Tropos-6000 image generator and widescreen visual system.

With the addition of these simulators, CAE will offer training on more than 70 different fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft types from AgustaWestland, Airbus, Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer, Gulfstream, Hawker Beechcraft, Piper, Sikorsky, and Twin Commander Aircraft LLC. All those simulators are part of CAE’s previously announced expansion plans.
