LAN reports January traffic grows 17.6%

The Chilean-based “model airline” reports another month of growth, with passenger traffic growing 17.6% over the same month last year, with capacity growth of 11.4%, moving the load factor up 4.3 points to 82.3%. International traffic – which represents approximately 70% of the total – grew 20.6% as capacity increased 13.4% moving the international passenger load factor up five points to 82.8%. Domestic traffic in Chile, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador rose10.9% as capacity grew 7.2%, moving the domestic passenger load factor up 2.7 points to 81.0%. Cargo traffic increased 25.5% mainly due to the recovery in import and export markets in Latin America, along with increased operations to Europe. Cargo capacity grew 17.9%, as a result cargo load factor increased 4.1 points to 66.9%.
