GOL and Varig will be merged as a single airline

While GOL has been handling its acquisition of Varig through the holding company, it has now applied for authorization to merge the two companies under single management. The objective, according to a press announcement by GOL is “To optimize the operating structure of the group in order to increase efficiencies and services. It will be possible to integrate management, explore synergies and increase and improve our services”. They have also stated that the two brands will be maintained.
