First Latin American operator of the 787 becomes the first Latin American operator of both the 787-8 and 787-9

EVERETT, Wash., Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Boeing (NYSE:BA) and LATAM Airlines Group celebrated the delivery of the airline’s first 787-9 Dreamliner. LATAM Airlines Group is leasing the new airplane from Amsterdam-based lessor AerCap.

LATAM Airlines Group will become Latin America’s first operator of both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants of the Dreamliner family when the airline group launches 787-9 services on South American routes in April.

With this delivery, LATAM Airlines Group will have 11 787s in its fleet, the most in Latin America. The company is building a fleet of 32 787 Dreamliners, including 10 787-9s, over the next several years.

The 787-9 complements and extends the 787 family. With the fuselage stretched by 20 feet (6 meters) over the 787-8, the 787-9 will fly up to 40 more passengers an additional 450 nautical miles (830 kilometers) with the same exceptional environmental performance – 20 percent less fuel use and 20 percent fewer emissions than the airplanes it replaces.

The 787-9 leverages the visionary design of the 787-8, offering passenger-pleasing features such as large windows, large stow bins, modern LED lighting, higher humidity, a lower cabin altitude, cleaner air and a smoother ride.

Fifty-eight customers from around the world have ordered more than 1,070 787s, with more than 200 airplanes delivered.

Pacific Coast Avionics completes Citation II avionics upgrade

January 28, 2015

Avionics upgrade gives Citation II operator LPV/LNAV/GPS approach capabilities
as well as active weather radar, traffic and ADS-B conformity.

Portland, OR, January 28, 2015  — Dewey Conroy, Vice President and COO of Pacific Coast Avionics has announced that the company recently completed another a touchscreen GPS/NAV/COM and digital weather radar upgrade on a Cessna Citation II business jet.

The Citation II is owned and operated by an extruded plastics products manufacturer with multiple U.S. locations.

“The aircraft’s legacy NAV/COM/DME, ADF, transponder and radar had been in the panel for 30-plus-years and they were not only becoming unreliable, but they lacked the capabilities that the owner needed to meet his growing business travel needs,” Conroy said. “The new Garmin touchscreen radios, ADS-B, active traffic and BendixKing vertical-profile radar give the pilots advanced operational and situational awareness capabilities at a true fraction of the cost of a newer aircraft.”

Conroy explained that the Citation II’s panel upgrade included:

• Dual Garmin GTN 750 touchscreen GPS/NAV/COMs

• Garmin GMA 35 Remote Audio Control System

• Garmin GDL 88D ADS-B Transceiver

• Garmin GTS 825 Air Traffic Surveillance and Collision Avoidance System

• BendixKing RDR 2000 Digital Vertical Profile Weather Radar

“This is the fourth Citation II we’ve upgraded with a similar system so the entire project was rather straightforward,” he explained. “It’s always a challenge integrating new digital technology in older aircraft systems. The biggest parts of the upgrade were fabricating the new wiring harnesses and interfaces along with the new panel center section to accommodate the Garmin GTN 750s.”

London, 21st January 2015:  AJW Aviation is proud to have once again been announced as the winner of ‘The Aviation 100 Parts Supplier of the Year’ Award 2015, after receiving over 11,000 votes.

Now in its fifth year, the Airline Economics ‘Aviation 100’ awards is one of the largest events of its kind and recognises the year’s industry leading performers, based on votes and top ten rankings across strict criteria. 2014 ended positively for airlines.  The drop in fuel prices also means aircraft will fly longer before being retired and this will require world class spare parts support.   AJW Aviation is proud to be considered best spare parts provider for the third consecutive year and it is excited to be the destination of choice to keep these fleets flying safely while delivering investment returns for their owners.

Accepting the award was Boris Wolstenholme, CEO of AJW Aviation, who commented “The criteria for this award included parts stocked, current and new clients over the past 12 months, locations, number of employees, ability to source, supply and timescales. This award is a great accolade and a continuous reminder of AJW’s outstanding achievements in the last year alone. It is an excellent start to 2015 for the Company.

We are very proud to win for the third year running, particularly as it is voted for by our peers from across the aviation industry, including our customers, partners and suppliers, which makes it especially important to us. We certainly look forward to sustaining the reasons why we have been chosen three years consecutively, as we expand our business and build even stronger partnerships with our customers over the next twelve months.”
