Sukhoi Superjet 100 SN 95004 has successfully passed HIRF testing in Italy
November 24, 2010
November 24th, Turin (Italy) – The Sukhoi Superjet 100 SN 95004 has successfully completed HIRF testing program in Italy. Tests were accomplished in Turin-Caselle airport, at the Alenia Aeronautica facilities. The preliminary results show that the aircraft meets all certification requirements regarding HIRF (High Intensity Radiated Field Tests).
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) is the first Russian aircraft to accomplish the full scope of the certification HIRF testing program. Its methodology was elaborated by the SCAC engineering team in collaboration with Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica Company, with further approval of the Interstate Aviation Committee Aviation Register (AR IAC) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
In September the experts of the European certification authorities approved Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company’s testing methodology in part of equipment evaluation, systems testing.
HIRF certification is required to demonstrate that the aircraft’s electric and electronic equipment is not influenced by external electromagnetic fields like those produced by a TV or radio station or by a radar. The following methods were used to conduct testing: Low Level Swept Current, Low Level Swept Frequency, Bulk Current Injection and High Intensity Radiated Field.
The representatives of AR IAC and key certification centres took part in the most important stages of the tests.
«Completion of HIRF tests is an important milestone of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Certification Program. Our airliner is the first Russian aircraft that has compliance with international standards in this domain. Recently during flight tests under supervision of Russian and European certification authorities SSJ100 has successfully passed noise testing program. This joint effort will definitely contribute to harmonization of certification standards of Russia and Europe, as well as the successful entrance of our product into the international market», – said Igor Vinogradov, SCAC’s SVP on Certification, commenting the finalization of the HIRF testing program.

EU to Negotiate Air Transport Agreement With Brazil
October 21, 2010
The transport ministers of the European Union granted
a mandate to the European Commission to open
negotiations on an air transport agreement with Brazil.
The negotiations will aim at opening market access for
airlines and achieving a high level of regulatory
convergence in areas of security, environment aspects
and consumer protection.
According to an economic impact assessment study,
an agreement with Brazil could generate up to 460 million
Euro consumer benefits a year and the potential for traffic
growth is estimated at 335,000 additional passengers in
the first year.
On July 1’th of this year Brazil and the European Union
signed an agreement that ensures non-discriminatory
treatment for all EU airlines.
Also an aviation safety agreement was signed which will
strengthen the technical cooperation in all areas of
aviation safety.
Brazil is by far the largest air transport market in South
America with more than four million passengers carried
in 2009 on flights between the European Union and
Brazil.
Sukhoi Superjet 100 has successfully passed noise testing program
October 13, 2010
October 12, Turin – Under supervision of AR IAC and EASA, the SSJ 100 has successfully passed noise testing program performed as a part of the overall certification campaign. At the Cuneo-Levaldigi airport the aircraft made 8 certification flights. The preliminary results show that the aircraft noise levels show full compliance with ICAO CAEPIV requirements.
Being now cleared by AR IAC and EASA, the same aircraft #95004 is undergoing HIRF testing, in the same premises. HIRF testing methodology was elaborated by the SCAC engineering team in collaboration with Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica Company, and relevant certification authorities.
HIRF certification is required to demonstrate that the aircraft electric and electronic equipments are not influenced by external electromagnetic fields like those produced by a TV or radio station or by a radar. HIRF testing technique consists in radiating the aircraft with radio waves whose frequencies and levels of emission are set by Certification rules. The aircraft can be electrically powered or unpowered, and engines can also run. The electromagnetic fields and currents on cables inside the aircraft are measured during radiation and avionic equipments are kept under control to check for any malfunction. Telemetry is used to monitor aircraft parameters in real time as well as to avoid people exposure to radiation during tests with powered aircraft.
“Sukhoi Superjet 100 is the first aircraft in Russia that has compliance with international noise standards proven in flight under supervision of Russian and European certification authorities. It’s a real milestone of the SSJ 100 Program which confirms good perspective for the aircraft worldwide sales”, – said Igor Vinogradov, SCAC’s SVP on Certification, commenting the finalization of the noise testing program.
